My Second Phase of School Internship was started at  Govt Boys HSS Kottarakara. The class allotted for me was VIII and IX English medium class. We already got the portions from the school. The teaching practice started on 4th July 2022.This is a weekly reflection from 4th July 22 to 8th July 22.

On the first day we students’ teachers came to the school around 9.25 am and met the school HM and signed the attendance register.  She reminded us about the rules of the school and importance of discipline and classroom management. Her friendly behaviour increased our confidence and we were in a relaxed mind. The we met our concerned teachers. It was fabulous Day. The first week of teaching practice was really an unforgettable one. It was a pleasant experience to catch up with my students and receive their love and affection.                    The day started with a prayer by the students and the teacher asked me to took the first period at VIII B. I went to VIII B and took the lesson Marvellous Travel by Joshua Fernandez. First, I introduced myself and created good rapport with the students. With the help of ICT, I presented some pictures and videos about travel in order to create a mental readiness among the students. And asked some questions related to that and the students responded well. Then I introduced the writer by showing his picture and given a detailed information about him. Later I introduced the first two stanzas of the poem and the students listened carefully. Silent reading was also given to the students in the class. The students were very active and interested in doing worksheet.

On the second I reached the school at 9.20 am and signed the attendance register.  I got two class in the second day, the first one at VIII C and the second one at IX C. In the first hour at VIII C I introduced the lesson marvellous travel and in IX C in the sixth hour introduced the lesson Tolstoy Farm. The students are very cooperative in IX C. But the students of VIII C are very noisy and very difficult to manage.

In the third day I got an hour at IX C and I introduced the lesson Tolstoy Farm with help of ICT. In the free time we prepared lesson plans and slides for the class. We also involved in the activities or programmes that held in the school. We also served the meals for the students and it is totally a different experience.

In the fourth day I am really tensed because our optional teacher informed us that she will visit that day in the afternoon session to observe our class. Suddenly we arranged the class and periods for the observation. But unfortunately, the HM said that there will be a programme for the 8 standard students in the afternoon session. So, our optional teacher missed the chance to observe my class, but she observed the class of Aparna krishna, the other teacher trainee.

In the fifth day I got a substitution hour at IX C and the students expressed their interest to conduct a quiz program in the class. As a teacher it is my duty to provide extracurricular activities in the class. I granted the permission and students discussed about the topic and they selected Indian history as the area for the quiz. Students divided themselves as two groups and started the quiz. Group 1 won the competition in the end and everyone congratulated them. The students thanked me and shows their gratitude towards me. It was a great day for me and I will remember it forever.
